The Admissions Department at Eastern Oregon University (EOU) has a dynamic career opportunity for an outgoing, enthusiastic, and energetic professional who enjoys meeting new people, collaborating with a great team, and achieving results in higher education through its Admissions Department as an Admissions Counselor of Multicultural Recruitment.
Admission counselors are responsible for representing Eastern Oregon University to multiple constituencies, including prospective students, families, schools, and community contacts. The incumbent will develop and maintain recruitment initiatives to meet overall university enrollment goals. The Admission Counselor will execute and assess programs within assigned geographic territories, present to large and small groups, plan recruitment travel, monitor recruitment expenses, and provide support to the campus visit program. The position is particularly focused to serve underrepresented student populations and multicultural recruitment.
Incumbent advises and counsels prospective students about EOU undergraduate academic offereings and overall student experience including representing EOU and recruiting prospective students for EOU at multiple events and regional schools. Admissions Counselors are responsible for building a stronger presence and cultivating meaningful relationships to effectively explain, admission policies and next steps to students and to provide outstanding customer service.
Responsibilities Responsible for researching assigned territories and addressing the needs of the students. Is the main point of contact for high school or transfer students from those areas that are seeking an undergraduate degree from Eastern Oregon University. Develops and maintains recruitment plans and tracks the success of initiatives. Uses software to track individual communication with students, analyze trends, track data to make recommendations to meet the university enrollment goals. Advises and counsels prospective students about EOU undergraduate studies and courses. Explains Admission policies and next steps to students and provides outstanding customer service to all who interact with Admissions. Assists in daily interactions with prospective and current students and families through our campus visit program conduct campus tours if needed. Provides support for all events we host including but not limited to Preview Days, Mountaineer Days, Mountaineer Nights, Bienvenidos a EOU, Admitted Student Receptions, Discover Your Future. Develops and maintains recruitment plans and tracks the success of initiatives. Uses the CRM to track individual communication with students, analyze trends and track data to make recommendations to meet the university enrollment goals. Represents and recruits prospective students for EOU at various events such as college fairs, high school visitations, individual appointments, counselor functions and participate in the Oregon Public Tour. Creates and gives presentations on EOU and answer questions from prospective students and families. This includes attending conferences for professional development. Create or assist in the creation of marketing tools. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council of Higher Education Accreditation or an internationally recognized accrediting organization. Fluency in speaking and writing in Spanish is required. Several programs are conducted in Spanish, and the individual needs to be comfortable speaking individually and presenting in Spanish. One (1) to two (2) years of demonstrated experience working with or creating programming surrounding outreach of underrepresented youth. One (1) to two (2) years experience working in education or with high school and community college-age students and working with non-traditional and multicultural students or audiences. Knowledge of non-profit/regionally accredited undergraduate student experience, program offerings, faculty, and staff for directing questions and advising potential students and parents. Applicants must have taken an active role in student activities and campus life and should be familiar with current admission requirements, degree programs, financial aid programs, student activities, athletics, and transfer programs. One (1) to two (2) years of experience working with a multi-campus system, academic rules, policies and procedures, general education requirements, budgetary policies, and procedures. Understanding of the recruitment cycle and admissions funnel. Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills both written and oral and have the ability to speak before large and small groups in a variety of settings. Excellent one-on-one communications skills in person, over the phone, video and email are also necessary. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to cultural diversity. Demonstrated public speaking and presentation skills. This position requires the capacity to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Familiarity with computing systems as well as expertise in multimedia and electronic communication. Experience with software systems used for student recruitment or data collection. Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint Must be able to work in a team environment and be self-motivated. Possess strong organizational skills and be able to work on multiple tasks concurrently. Valid United States driver's license with a clean driving record. Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check. Having a criminal history is not an automatic bar for employment.
