Position Summary:

Designer 4 will continue to expand their knowledge of current and new software, along with plans to complete their project more efficiently and accurately. The designer will be assigned projects that they will be responsible to design and manage from bid/conception to estimating and completion in the field. All projects will be reviewed and redlined for the designer to revise before proceeding with creating production paperwork. They will need to be available to answer questions and handle any situation from either the shop or field. In addition, they will be available to answer questions and assist other designers with their projects. They may be called upon to teach Designer level 1, 2 and 3 new areas of design. They will assume a leadership role by helping with reviewing level 1, 2 & 3 designer projects. They will be mentoring the other designers and providing constructive advice on work related issues. Requires a strong belief in the mission and goals of the company and the capability to work in a team environment.

Duties / Responsibilities: • Read and interpret blueprints • Develop and design component shop drawings • Ensure conformance to all relevant building requirements and municipality building codes • Interpret design requirements as indicated by procedures, design manuals, and other applicable specifications • Generate layouts for final construction • Ensure designs are accurate, optimized, and conforms to standards • Train new team members • Create and utilize training curriculum • Review other team members projects and communicate revisions effectively as needed • Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement; identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers; participates as a team player in all phases of the organization; and is open and responsive to change. • Comply with all company policies and procedures • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required: • Experience in designing residential, multi-family, commercial, custom and production components • General computer knowledge • Has had previous project management experience • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications • Experience with MiTek and/or equivalent design software • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints • Attention to detail, takes pride in quality of work • Efficient and able to complete assignments within a given deadline • Knowledge of standard construction practices, codes and carpentry • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Communicates effectively with team members • Communication skills to communicate with the customer about RFI's or other parts of the project • Strong team work ethic

Education and Qualifications: • Associate degree in a relevant field* preferred, plus 7 years of experience**

*Education substitution: 2+ years of exact experience, 4 years of similar experience **Experience: Knowledge of commonly used framing concepts and practices within the construction industry.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting or standing at a computer for long periods of time. Occasional visits to local job sites.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required

Compensation Range:

$86,580.00 - $108,500.00/year
