Senior Strategic Communications Advisor
within GHD’s America’s practice is the role made for you. We are looking for an accomplished professional to lead business development for our practice and community engagement and outreach projects across GHD’s markets - water, transportation, property and buildings, energy and resources, and environment. This person will need experience across the U.S. and Canada with a focus on California. As a committed thought leader, you will provide premier community engagement, public consultation, and strategic communication services to clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing communication, outreach, and consultation strategies; leading stakeholder and public engagement sessions including logistics and facilitation; being comfortable with both online and in-person engagement; and producing summary findings. As an experienced member of the practice, you will be critical to our team’s growth in California and the U.S., with a unique ability to build internal alliances and relationships. You will be tasked with helping secure and delivering a pipeline of work aligned with our business objectives. GHD supports a hybrid work model. This position is based in San Francisco, CA. Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and client-oriented solutions related to public consultation, outreach and education, risk communication, crises communication, stakeholder engagement, outrage management, and virtual engagement. Prepare strategic advice to clients, including stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, risk analysis, and stakeholder management on behalf of clients. Support GHD’s Future Communities program. Support a growing team of practitioners in the areas of business development and staff training. Support and help drive a culture of teamwork. Provide facilitation for workshops, advisory committees, and/or public meetings, including those that can be emotionally charged. Manage and oversee the work of sub consultants on projects. Create communication material including key messages, FAQs, presentations, and storyboards. Work with graphic artists to translate communication material into visually engaging documents. Build relationships with GHD project managers, subject matter experts, clients, and subconsultants. Manage projects and deliverables efficiently, including budget, scope, and schedules. Develop and execute new business strategies and build relationships with internal and external clients. Skills, Competencies, and Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years project experience in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, or community consultation. Established client relationships in the Bay Area and throughout California. Experience working on and leading projects throughout California. Experience in or a degree in Urban Planning and/or environmental studies. Experience delivering projects that meet client objectives, manage risk, and result in high-quality deliverables within a client-defined schedule and budget. Experience in a consulting environment, having responsibility for meeting revenue targets and building a backlog of projects. Ability to travel, valid driver’s license. The salary range for this position is $121,160-$181,740 depending on location and experience.
