Location : Hybrid: Onsite work for at least 3 days at KinderSmile Foundation corporate office in Bloomfield and up to 2 days remote.
About KinderSmile Foundation
KinderSmile Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing underserved children and their families with comprehensive dental care and education on the importance of dental hygiene. Established in 2007, the Foundation's mission is to ensure every child has access to a dentist and to eradicate preventable dental diseases, which disproportionately affect economically disadvantaged children.
KinderSmile Foundation operates three Dental Homes located in Bloomfield, Newark, and Trenton, New Jersey, serving patients regardless of their insurance status. The Foundation's staff and volunteers are committed to delivering the highest level of care and respect to everyone who walks through their doors.
By offering community-based oral health education, dental care, and support for current and future healthcare professionals, KinderSmile Foundation works tirelessly towards a future free of dental diseases for all children.
Position Summary
This is a full-time, exempt position.
The annual salary range for this position is $85,000.
Position Details
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week.
Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm.
Location
The Development Director will work onsite at KinderSmile Foundation corporate office in Bloomfield at least 3 days per week. Remote work will be permitted for up to 2 days per week.
Who You Are:
The Development Director is a compassionate, motivated, and skilled professional who is experienced in building and developing relationships with donors and corporate partners. The Development Director will focus on fund development and fundraising. The Development Director will work closely with management to set fundraising goals and will establish and execute plans and programs leading to their successful achievement.
The Development Director will maintain high visibility for KinderSmile Foundation with effective and consistent branding in all visual, verbal, and written materials, and build a compatible and impactful social media presence.
As a team player, the Development Director will provide strategic leadership to KinderSmile Foundation management and collaborate with multiple constituents. They will also elevate awareness of barriers to oral healthcare in underserved communities.
Responsibilities
I. General:
Embrace the culture of KinderSmile Foundation, fully understanding its mission and vision, and the passion of its leadership and team.
Elevate awareness of longstanding, multi-faceted barriers to oral healthcare especially in underserved and uninsured communities.
Develop and maintain senior level communication with the CEO, Board of Directors, and leadership team to align priorities, goals, and strategies.
Meet monthly or quarterly with supervisors to review fundraising goals and metrics.
Collaborate effectively with the leadership team to ensure that fund development objectives are met through cultivating important relationships and by promoting a culture of philanthropy.
Help identify new board members to maximize donor revenue.
Submit a monthly Board report summarizing all planning, activities, challenges, successes, results, and achievements for the month.
Familiarize yourself with KinderSmile Foundation’s Employee Handbook.
Adhere to KinderSmile Foundation’s protocols.
Use KinderSmile.org email address for work communications.
II. Fundraising
Achieve revenue goals by building and developing relationships with donors and corporate partners.
Provide strategic leadership to KinderSmile Foundation’s fundraising programs.
With the KinderSmile Foundation leadership team, set measurable fundraising goals for each fiscal quarter and for the calendar year.
Develop and direct a fundraising plan to increase philanthropic revenue and meet fundraising goals. Maintain quantifiable goals, strategies, and measurable outcomes.
III. Donor Engagement
Create, expand, and strengthen relationships with current donors.
Cultivate and grow relationships with new donors.
Develop and implement strategies to significantly expand and build upon the current and new major donors.
Cultivate and steward prospective donors through face-to-face solicitations and innovative events.
Reconnect and increase donations from lapsed donors.
Plan and execute special events and related fundraising activities.
IV. Board Engagement
Engage KinderSmile Foundation board members for fundraising initiatives and events, leveraging Board members’ networks.
Attend Board meetings to present as requested.
V. Fund Development
Create a fund development plan to achieve annual fundraising goal of $1 million.
Be familiar with giving and gift strategies.
Develop, execute, and monitor a comprehensive fund development program including individual donors, major donors, foundations, corporations, special events, social media, and planned giving.
VI. Marketing
Maintain branding for KinderSmile Foundation in all aspects, visually, verbally, and in writing.
Build a consistent social media strategy and presence, regularly posting on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube.
Create opportunities to market KinderSmile Foundation in traditional print and broadcast media.
VII. Community Engagement
Build and cultivate relationships in the surrounding community, with local businesses, civic and social groups, estate and financial planning, and other professionals.
Participate in strategic meetings with potential partners and community agencies and organizations.
Represent KinderSmile Foundation in presentations to business, civic, and relevant philanthropic organizations, and forge effective, ongoing relationships with these groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Graduation from college or university.
Experience
Prior experience working in a development role is required.
Technical Proficiency
Familiarity with Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PPT.
Familiarity with Google products.
Experience in social media.
Other Critical Skills
Organized, punctual, and reliable.
Good communication skills.
Physical Requirement and Working Condition
The Development Director may need to stand or sit at a desk for long periods, as well as work on the computer for multiple hours at a time. The Development Director should be adept at working independently and managing their time effectively.
