Background Information
This position is for PNW Students Only
Purdue University Northwest is proud to have Leo the Lion as our mascot, representing our school's spirit and pride. We are seeking a performer for part-time work including appearances at community events, school visits, and other special university events hosted by the department of Undergraduate Admissions. The Mascot Performer will be wearing the Leo the Lion costume for extended periods of time. Our Mascot Performer needs to have a flexible schedule to work after school hours and on weekends.
This is a part-time position that would average no more than 8-10 hours a week. The ideal candidate would be enthusiastic about working in a customer-facing role with strong interpersonal skills.

High Energy Performance:
Have high energy to provide maximum enjoyment to fans as Leo the Lion. Flexible Scheduling:
Be flexible and available to perform at community and university events, especially on weekends. Mascot Integrity:
Preserve the integrity of the mascot, including mannerisms, body language, attitude, and PNW representation at all times. Team Collaboration:
Work well in a team environment. Costume and Prop Care:
Take care of the costume and props when in your possession. Non-verbal Communication:
Understand and perform a series of non-verbal communication signals to be used with the mascot handler in public, e.g., the mascot performer will have a signal when he/she needs to be escorted away from the area. Skills and Qualifications
Age Requirement:
18+ years old. Transportation:
Able to provide own transportation. Experience:
Previous experience working with community and youth preferred Availability:
Must be available to work odd hours, including some evenings and weekends. Versatility:
Work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Public Interaction:
Ability to interact with the public and maintain professionalism. Short Notice:
Must be willing to come into work at short notice for last-minute events. Physical Demands
Physical Condition:
Must be in good physical condition and able to lift and wear the costume which weighs 20 lbs. Activity Level:
Employee will be walking around and doing minor exercises for hours at a time. Education
