Grants Accountant JobID: 5972 Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/ Senior Accountant Date Posted: 12/4/2024 Location: Finance Office Position: Senior Grants Accountant Position description: Performs accounting and financial service functions for programs funded by grants and/or special revenue in relation to projections, budgets, reporting, reviewing, and monitoring of all grants. Note: The below lists are not ranked in order of importance Essentials FunctionsThe below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned. Assists Administrators with grant applications to ensure guidelines and Federal/State mandates are met. Plans, organizes, coordinates and monitors all district grant budgets including but not limited to: preparing annual and project budgets, revising budgets as necessary, estimating any carry-over of funds from one year to the next. Coordinates with key personnel at all levels of the District to support proper and timely expenditures of grant funds, in compliance with applicable guidelines and budget deadlines. Prepares and/or assists in the preparation and timely submission of all applicable fiscal reports. Compiles year-end reports, work papers and analysis necessary for the District’s auditors to complete the yearly audit of the District’s grant expenditures. Communicates with State and Federal required funding departments and/or funding sources to maintain compliance of grant expenditures, reports, audits and/or requests Provides Administrators/Directors with YTD department and grant budget reports. Attend/support budget meetings with administrators Maintains MUNIS position control numbers to ensure accuracy. Processes requisition conversion/modification. Reviews and approves pay lines, payroll transfers, and ACH’s. Reviews and processes budget transfers. Provides financial system training to department users. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Strong organization, problem solving and conflict resolution skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to prioritize, plan and meet fluctuating deadlines Adaptability and good teamwork skills Ability to learn and navigate new software and new computer systems Ability to produce consistent, highly accurate results Ability to create and maintain extensive amounts of documentation in a highly organized manner Qualifications Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance related discipline or 3+ years in Accounting/Finance required Knowledge of accounting principles and practices Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel Knowledge of grant writing, including narratives and budget maintenance Preferred Knowledge of fund accounting and budget projections Intermediate Excel skills, including v- lookup and pivot-tables Knowledge of state and federal grant budget system (eGMS) Additional Working Conditions Frequent interruption of duties by staff, outside stakeholders, visitors and/or inquiries via email or telephone.
