We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our team.
Position Summary:
The Real Estate Staff Accountant/Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in real estate accounting or property management and possess strong analytical and organizational skills.

Accounting and Financial Reporting:
Responsibilities
• Communicate with all vendors, partners, and staff regarding payments and financial records to ensure bills are paid promptly
• Prepare for quarterly reporting using standard best practices and assist in monthly closings
• Utilize computer software to enter financial data and keep our records organized
• Obtain signatures for checks and print and distribute checks as needed to properly facilitate all incoming and outgoing payments
• Reconcile all business accounts to ensure our records match up and no transaction gets lost
Qualifications
• Proficient in property management software, such as Yardi
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Some accounting experience is a plus
• Background in real estate preferred
• Must have high school diploma or GED, college degree helpful but not required

Key Responsibilities:
Accounting and Financial Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all properties and company entities.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and intercompany accounts.
- Process and code invoices accurately and ensure timely payment to vendors.
- Monitor rent collections, generate tenant invoices, and manage delinquencies.
- Assist in the preparation of cash flow reports and analysis.
- Record journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Ensure proper classification of transactions in compliance with GAAP.
- Perform month-end and year-end close procedures.
- Assist in preparing property-level and company-wide budgets.
- Monitor and analyze variances between actual and budgeted figures.
- Coordinate with external accountants for tax filings and audits.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Assist with the implementation of new accounting systems or software as needed.
- Support management with ad hoc financial analysis and special projects.
- Maintain accurate records for loan documentation and insurance renewals.
