JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Operational Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable staff and the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions. The Senior Operational Accounting Manager will perform a wide variety of professional duties including facilitation of the month-end AR and AP close while exercising discretion and judgement to recognize and resolve unusual or complex issues. Preparing GL reconciliations and performing the analysis independently deemed necessary to understand and resolve any issues uncovered. Tracking, researching and proactively addressing issues with customer and supplier accounts. In addition, this role is responsible for identifying areas for process improvement to increase transaction efficiency and for working cross-functionally across the organization to design and implement new processes.

In addition, this role is responsible for identifying areas for process improvement to increase transaction efficiency and for working cross-functionally across the organization to design and implement new processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtain a thorough understanding of business processes, apply previous experience to make recommendations for improvements and lead implementation of process changes both within accounting department and through cross-functional teams.
- Assist with the monthly and year-end close process and related accounting activities required to accurately and timely record and report the financial statements and accompanying analyses.
- Implement controls as approved by the Controller to assist the organization in appropriately managing its financial risks.
- Support annual financial statement audit and internal and external reporting requirements.
- Oversee the Accounts Payable department and implement process improvements and efficiencies to ensure timely and accurate invoice and payment processing.
- Ensure all vendor information is complete for 1099 processing and manage the annual 1099 reporting process.
- Oversee the Accounts Receivable department and implement process improvements and efficiencies when processing payments, invoicing, and reporting.
- Work closely with other departments as liaison for Accounts Receivable team when executing new service offerings and implementations.
- Review and analyze contracts to determine appropriate revenue recognition treatment.
- Assist with customer and vendor reporting when necessary.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures that ensure financial transactions are executed in accordance with GAAP principles.
- Transform current AP and AR processes utilizing additional technology to address future growth aligned with business objectives.
- Monitor emerging technology for automation opportunities.
- Exhibit professional conduct, maturity, and good judgment with all levels of employees and external stakeholders including, though not limited to, customers and vendors.
- Accept other responsibilities, projects or activities reasonably related to the accounting or financial management objectives of the company or requiring skills for which the Controller may deem the Accounting Manager reasonably qualified to complete.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills to achieve the organization's objectives.
- Develop future leaders through talent development, training, and mentoring of individuals.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED
- BA or BS in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from an accredited university
- Five (5) years minimum of accounting-related experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
- Experienced in all areas of accounting, including but not limited to, AR, AP, Billing and Collections
- Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement projects including managing change within the department and business units
- High level of proficiency and knowledge of accounting theories and principles and hands on application
- High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
- Proficient with accounting and ERP systems such as NetSuite, Ramp, Salesforce
- Strong analytical and reasoning abilities
- Attention to detail and well organized
- Able to interact with multiple levels of employees; tactful-mature-flexible
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- Mix of private and public accounting experience
- Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative and remain flexible
- Ability to effectively balance multiple tasks
- Self-starter with ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a diverse range of individuals
- Effective problem solving and decision making
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Work is performed indoors in a typical office environment - not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
