Job Description:

As the first point of contact with prospective professional and graduate adult students, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for informing prospective students regarding program, admissions, and application requirements. As student files are completed, the Admissions Counselor is responsible for reviewing application file contents, making admissions decisions for programs, and preparing and guiding students through enrollment. The Admissions Counselor performs student recruitment activities via phone, email, live chat, text, virtual meetings, and face-to-face.

Summary of Job Responsibilities:
  • Schedule and conduct individual and group information sessions to identify students' goals and motivation and provide accurate information and guidance that supports successful progression towards earning their goal.
  • Model and provide mission-minded, exemplary customer service to prospective students, current students, clients, colleagues, and the community
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of academic programs and admission requirements under MNU's School of Professional & Graduate Studies' purview
  • Demonstrate commitment to building relationships with prospective students by using professional knowledge and perspective to relate and establish rapport during the discovery process
  • Ensure communication contact goals and productivity metrics, as outlined by the Enrollment Manager, are met to produce desired recruitment results. Metrics include direct student communication, applications, and enrollment goals.
  • Possess the ability to work in a busy office environment where tasks and responsibilities change rapidly, and accuracy of records and data is critical. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
    • Rapidly responding to inquiries and applicants and performing appropriate follow-up based on established contact strategy
    • Accurately recording and monitoring the applicant to enrollment lifecycle through the use of CRM for reporting and analysis
    • Consistently demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure a positive student experience
      • Completion of student files including collection of fully submitted application, official transcripts, licenses, references, and other documents which may be required by admissions
  • Frequently communicating with peers in other offices
  • Other duties as assigned by Enrollment Manager
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Flexibility and adaptability; demonstrating the willingness to embrace and support a culture where change is expected and occurs often
  • Proven attention to detail combined with creative critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to occasionally work some evenings or Saturdays for recruiting events
  • Highly relational with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Strong customer service and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, with the ability to learn and adapt to various software programs. Acceptable typing skills required
  • Proficient in the use of a customer relationship management (CRM) database
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Previous experience in higher education admissions environment, internal sales, and/or a customer service setting is preferred
