About the Role We are seeking a knowledgeable and dynamic Beer Buyer to curate our beer selection, manage inventory, and deliver exceptional customer service. This role is integral to maintaining our reputation as a destination for quality beer and an outstanding shopping experience. Key Responsibilities Guest Engagement: Provide expert guidance to customers on beer selections, food pairings, and gift ideas. Actively engage guests with a warm and professional demeanor. Promote loyalty programs, events, and special tastings. Assist with carry-outs and contribute to building a loyal client base. Product Knowledge: Identify and select new beer products while staying updated on industry trends. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of our offerings, including priority and promotional items. Optimize product displays for maximum visibility and appeal. Regularly attend tastings and stay informed through periodicals to enhance expertise. Inventory Management: Purchase beer and manage vendor relationships. Reconcile purchase orders and invoices, update inventory systems, and create promotional pricing. Oversee stock levels, ensuring timely shelving and adherence to "first in, first out" practices. Monitor expiration dates and manage breakage. Conduct inventory counts and maintain accurate records. Operational Excellence: Build, update, and restock beer displays to maintain visual appeal. Assign tasks to the floor team, such as shelving deliveries, creating signage, and maintaining cleanliness. Conduct weekly beer tastings to enhance customer experiences and boost sales. Evaluate weekly sales data and provide input on operational improvements. Contribute to employee evaluations and support loss prevention efforts. Requirements Requirements: Extensive knowledge of beer, including industry trends and food-beverage pairings. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to build rapport with guests. Proven experience in inventory management with proficiency in relevant software systems. Ability to create visually appealing, well-organized product displays. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities. Basic math and estimation skills for pricing and inventory tasks. Physical ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and use store ladders safely. Basic computer skills for inventory and point-of-sale management.
