Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accounting:
Monitor and reconcile merchandise inventory accounts, including cost of goods sold (COGS), shrinkage, and adjustments. Perform monthly inventory valuations and variance analysis. Collaborate with the operations team to ensure accurate inventory counts and records.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for merchandise transactions. Assist in month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy in merchandise-related accounts. Generate reports on merchandise performance, margins, and trends for management review.
Cost Analysis:
Analyze merchandise costs, including freight, tariffs, and other landed costs. Identify cost-saving opportunities and support pricing strategies.
Compliance & Process Improvement:
Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and relevant regulatory requirements. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and resolving inquiries. Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency in merchandise accounting.
