Summary/Objective: The physical therapist implements patient rehabilitation programs to help improve patient mobility function and strength. Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Hold license as a Physical Therapist in the state in which you intend to work Maintain and update PT skills and certifications as necessary Evaluate and treat patients for physical therapy and rehabilitation programs Utilize Electronic Medical Record to complete evaluations reports and discharge summaries for patient files Guide amp monitor patient care in all aspects of treatment and follow-up Supervise PT Assistants and Aides regarding all aspects of patient care Communicate with physicians and other persons to insure quality patient care Correspond with co-workers amp other offices via phone fax amp email Be responsible for accurate patient chart documentation amp follow-up re: prescriptions test results authorizations etc. Make sure patients are comfortable and answer questions when necessary. Work closely with the front office staff regarding scheduling and patient follow up. Have computer skills necessary to complete job requirements i.e. typing Word Internet EMR etc. Be able to make independent decisions regarding patient care Be involved in the business marketing amp referral process when necessary Be responsible for following HIPAA policy amp procedure Be familiar with PT billing policy amp procedure re: Medicare work-comp private auto liens cash pay etc. Be proficient in DX and ICD-10 coding for the billing of services Be able to be physical mobile including a combination of stool sitting walking and prolonged standing for 8-10 hour work days based on patient care schedule. Be able to lift 50 pounds and assist moving patients with mobility restraints assist patients with transferring and providing stand by assistance and recovery with patient walking safety. Supervisory Responsibility: This position supervises PT Assistants and Aides regarding all aspects of patient care. Work Environment: This position works in the patient physical therapy clinic an outpatient/rehabilitation setting. Job Responsibilities Related to Patient Privacy: •Expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with the Company's privacy policies procedures and practices as required by federal and state law and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a health care provider. Failure to comply with the Company's policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. •May access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete job duties. May only share such information with those who have a need to know specific patient information in order to complete job responsibilities related to treatment payment or other Company operations. •Encouraged and expected to report without the threat of retaliation any concerns regarding the Company's policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer. •Expected to actively participate in Company privacy training. •Required to communicate privacy policy information to coworkers students patients and others in accordance with Company policy. •Comply with OSHA federal and state regulations. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position walks sits stands bends lifts and moves continually during working hours. The position is subject to lifting objects weighing over 50 pounds pushing wheel chairs and transporting and supporting residents. The employee must be constantly alert for resident safety. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience Degree in Physical Therapy. Preferred Education and Experience Continuing Education courses. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must hold active license or plan to test in the near future to hold license as a Physical Therapist in the state in which you intend to work.
