POSITION OVERVIEW
The Brewer/Cellar Operator will be responsible for all areas of brewing and cellar day-to-day activities necessary to make high-quality beer.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Cellar Operations Start-up and shut-down of facility processes CIP, CUP and sanitizing of fermenters and BB tanks, lines and yeast brinks Performing gravity reads and dry hopping of fermenters; accurate documentation Yeast cell counts and pitching Racking kegs Daily operation of filtration equipment and procedures Cleaning and sanitizing filtration equipment and lines Preparing cellar systems for daily start-up Brewhouse Operations
Responsible for all aspects of wort production and related processes Start-up and shut-down of facility processes Milling and hop/antifoam/spice additions Obtaining samples needed for the lab Maintaining turbidity, CO2 and O2 levels within product specifications Performing dilution and flavor checks Maintaining brewhouse vessels in tour-worthy condition Other Duties
Informing Head Brewer of any issues and resolutions; communicating issues and concerns as they arise to staff and management Taking direction from Senior Brewer Accurate daily record keeping and sampling of process and product Monitoring quality parameters and working to resolve issues promptly Communicating critical information to appropriate departments Participating in taste panel work as directed Attending and constructively participating in meetings Contributing to a positive work environment through open and constructive dialog Contributing and being receptive to continual innovation and improvement Maintaining a safe and orderly work environment within department as well as entire facility Keeping workspace organized and neat throughout shift Following all company policies as detailed in the employee handbook (attendance, safety, IT protocols, etc.) Maintaining personal appearance and conduct reflective of professionalism and pride in MBBC Assisting other departments or performing other tasks as needed REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 2 years experience in brewing/manufacturing Ability to multitask and adjust to changing priorities Flexibility to work varied shifts Proper use of PPE Mechanical aptitude Attention to detail Forklift certification a plus WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. at shoulder height Prolonged standing Ability to work over, under and around potentially dangerous/moving machinery in small spaces Ability to withstand various temperatures and weather conditions Comfortability working at heights and using stairs repeatedly
