Description

The Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center is currently looking for a Youth & Sports Director. The Youth & Sports Director organizes and supervises all youth programs, sports programs, clinics and camps, leagues, and parties in the facility and manages the Youth Services staff, Sports staff, and League staff. This includes the creation of schedules, team information, lesson plans, marketing, and promotion of leagues, sports programs, and youth programs, as well as assisting in sponsored events. The Youth & Sports Director reports directly to the General Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Make decisions regarding youth programs in collaboration with General Manager
  • Evaluate and supervise Youth Services staff
  • Hold Periodic Youth Services Staff meetings to review procedures, policies, department changes, etc.
  • Organize and instruct youth programs and classes
  • Write creative curriculums for classes
  • Handle all issues and injuries in youth and sports programs; complete and submit proper documentation
  • Collect payments for youth programs and parties prior to start of program
  • Handle guest service for parties, youth programs, all sports programs and leagues
  • Schedule, organize, staff and direct parties
  • Contact guests to confirm party details
  • Oversee Field Marshalls and schedule referees
  • Knowledge of facility operations to include all leagues, camps, clinics, tournaments etc. being offered
  • Work within the confines of a budget
  • Maintain, repair, upgrade, and order league and tournament equipment when necessary
  • Knowledgeable in facility operations and ability to perform each aspect efficiently
  • Recognize the target area and advise target area towards JRSSC
  • Understand and carry out league and tournament policies and procedures
  • Update website to remain current to leagues, tournaments and facility needs/trends
  • Ability to open/close facility on a daily basis
  • Knowledge in multiple sports/interests for future expansions and developments of leagues and tournaments
  • Communicate with JRSSC affiliated guests, members, and prospective groups, by phone, e-mail and/or in person
  • Ability to be firm in league, tournament and company policies and procedures
  • Record all incidents encountered
  • Daily rounds during league play and tournaments as MOD to ensure a safe facility
  • Keep inventory of items purchased and order supplies when necessary
  • Ensure all paperwork is up to date
  • Requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manages 1-3 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 20-30 employees in the following departments:
    • Birthday Parties
    • Youth Programming
    • Camps and School Year Programs
    • Sports Programming & Leagues
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these areas.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the JRSSC's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, with a degree in Education, Parks & Recreation, Youth Development or related field; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.). Upon hire and training, the individual must be able to successfully utilize the Jeff Rouse Swim and Sport Center Member/Guest registration software and Timeclock software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess the following:
  • Current Driver's License
  • CPR & 1st Aid Certification
