Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician to provide on-site support for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in Hillsboro, Oregon. In this role, you will handle equipment installations, repairs, and maintenance while working on cutting-edge technology in a pre-production environment. Training includes 1-2 weeks in Austin, TX, or Japan, followed by 4 weeks of on-the-job training in Hillsboro, OR.
Schedule:
This position requires flexibility to work a compressed workweek. You will alternate between "front-end" and "back-end" schedules as follows: Front-End Schedule: Week 1: Sunday to Wednesday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Week 2: Sunday to Tuesday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Total: 80.5 hours over 2 weeks Back-End Schedule: Week 1: Wednesday to Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Week 2: Thursday to Saturday, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Total: 80.5 hours over 2 weeks Key Responsibilities:
Maintain equipment to factory standards, ensuring compliance with system specifications. Instruct customers in equipment operation and maintenance. Act as a liaison between the company and customers, managing assigned projects, including installations and major repairs. Perform complex repairs or unit replacements according to factory procedures. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to minimize equipment downtime and ensure strong customer relationships. Identify and report equipment errors and performance issues to aid in maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintain accurate documentation of activities and provide periodic reports. Conduct training sessions for customer personnel to ensure proficiency in system operations. Collaborate with other field technicians to troubleshoot and service equipment. Qualifications:
Associate's degree or equivalent experience required (Bachelor's degree preferred). Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field, preferably semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Hands-on mechanical and electronic testing skills required. Knowledge of Linux operating systems is preferred. Experience or knowledge in optical, lasers, robotics, software, or precision mechanical systems is a plus. Strong troubleshooting, verbal, and written communication skills. Customer support experience is a plus. Comfortable working in a cleanroom environment wearing appropriate protective gear. Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds independently and more with assistance. Comfortable with physical tasks such as standing, walking, and kneeling. Work Environment:
Includes working near moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, exposure to chemicals, ultraviolet light, and lasers. Involves extensive visual inspection, precision work, and occasional tight spaces or passageways. Requires adaptability to highly time-sensitive situations.
