Position Overview: The Director/Associate Controller, with FP&A responsibilities, will play a key role in the Finance & Operations team, overseeing GAAP financial reporting, audit preparation, and financial planning. This individual will bring rigorous financial discipline to our growth-stage company, partnering closely with stakeholders to inform strategic decisions and support business goals. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone with strong financial expertise to impact both Accounting and FP&A functions as we scale. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Compliance Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP financial statements. Lead the preparation for and management of annual financial audits, acting as the main point of contact for external auditors. Ensure compliance with internal policies, GAAP, and regulatory requirements, proactively addressing any compliance risks. Manage tax compliance; prepare tax schedules to assist external tax accountants with federal, state, and local tax filings. Prepare 1099 Tax Forms and 3921 Forms (via Carta). Accounting Operations Own the general ledger activities, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end closing processes. Implement and enhance internal controls, policies, and procedures to optimize accounting processes and safeguard company assets. Manage accounts payable (Bill.com), expense reporting (Expensify), and other financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Oversee purchase order management and invoice matching for accurate and timely payments. Develop and implement procedures, files, records, and follow-up systems to ensure processes are managed in a well-organized and timely manner. Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Support the development of the annual budget, forecasting, and long-range financial planning. Assist in the preparation of financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for senior management and the Board. Additional Responsibilities Perform special assignments, as needed, to support the Finance team and the broader organization. Identify, recommend, and implement accounting software and other tools to enhance financial reporting and planning efficiency. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA preferred. 7 years of accounting and FP&A experience, ideally in a startup or high-growth environment. Solid understanding of GAAP, with experience in preparing GAAP financial statements. Experience in leading audits and implementing internal controls. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Bill.com, Expensify) and advanced Excel; experience with financial modeling and analysis tools preferred. Excellent communication skills and ability to work across the various departments throughout the organization.
