ATTENDANCE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Non rotating 40 hour work week. Must be available to work additional hours or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

The principle purpose of the Heavy Equipment Operator is to assist with specialized mechanized cleaning of the gulf beaches, island parks, and island facilities run by the City of Corpus Christi.

* With the use of wheeled loaders and motor graders, remove large accumulations of natural seaweed, and maintain a drivable vehicle lane on city beaches * Remove all trash from the gulf beaches by emptying trash cans, picking up ground trash and cleaning litter from access roads * Lead a cleaning crew during the summer months to assist with the increased amounts of trash that accumulates on the gulf beaches * Wash and grease all heavy equipment after use on the beach * Wash the outside of each vehicle to remove salt from vehicle * Complete daily maintenance log required by grants and permits * May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License * Position requires High School Diploma * Two (2) years of related experience * Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas Class B Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
