Role Overview:
The Category Buyer defines, develops, and executes sourcing strategies, supplier development and purchasing tactics for the Americas region, looking for the best total cost of acquisition and overall performance of suppliers to achieve the objectives of the site.
Preferred Location: Position based at our University Park, IL or Rockford, IL site with a flexible hybrid work schedule with one day onsite. Approximately 15% travel.

Pay range: $90k - $120k
Within the range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to the job requirements. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible to receive a variable incentive pay component. Base pay information is based on market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.

Role Overview:
The Category Buyer defines, develops, and executes sourcing strategies, supplier development and purchasing tactics for the Americas region, looking for the best total cost of acquisition and overall performance of suppliers to achieve the objectives of the site.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage, source, and maintain a supply chain that is consistent with IMI's strategic directives for cost, quality, delivery, and service.
- Develop and maintain a preferred supplier list to maximize purchasing power and quality of services.
- Accountable for negotiations with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, and transportation.
- Monitor and control material costs. Negotiate cost reductions, purchasing contracts, terms, and other measures to improve overall costs.
- Partner with Suppliers, Norgren's Quality and Engineering teams to resolve product supply and quality issues.
- Develop and implement inventory, safety stock, minumum order quantities and replenishment strategies to optimize the relationship between customer service levels and inventory investment.
- Use analytics and other operational tools to address issues, manage inventory, purchase product, and provide metrics/reporting, etc. Provide information on market economic conditions that may impact supply and cost.
- Support the forecasting processes and systems to optimize accuracy. Develop strategic initiatives to integrate customer requirements into the procurement system and coordinate with the sales organization on forecast revisions.
- Manage materials within budget guidelines. Provide profit plan input, including people resources, expenses and Capital expenditures.
- Manage and develop direct report and provide exceptional support and training to advance their development within the organization
- Use analytics and other operational tools to complete Make/Buy decisions
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university or at least five years of practical experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with metal or machined components preferred.
- Must have a broad understanding of the functional components of forecasting, demand planning, strategic procurement, lean manufacturing and pull systems.
- Must speak, read, and write in English.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding in supply chain management, and contract negotiations
- Previous experience in implementing cost saving techniques for purchased parts and material processes.
- Ability to effectively use ERP systems to manage procurement, planning and improve performance.
- Supply Chain certifications (i.e., American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS)) desired
