YOUR FUTURE TEAM

As part of TCEQ's Office of Legal Services (OLS), you would help ensure that TCEQ decisions follow the law, and that rules we develop comply with statutory authority and are applied consistently. See details about what we do.

This position is a member of OLS Director's Division.

Qualifications:

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Six or more years of experience providing direct administrative support to management.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...

Provide administrative and technical assistance to the OLS Director and Special Counsel. Duties include:

(1) calendar planning and scheduling; (2) prioritizing mail for response/signature;

(3) interpretating administrative processes involving operations of the Director and OLS management; (4) coordinating/overseeing that special assignments/reports/correspondence are prepared within and according to established formats and time frames;

(5) communicating and/or disseminating information to internal/external customers for information purposes or appropriate action; (6) preparing and editing complex documents, including correspondence, memos, standard operating procedures (SOPs), presentations, and report (including spreadsheets and charts);

(7) preparing forms, manuals, and publications; (8) planning and preparing, or supervising the preparation of, periodic and special report;

(9) advising the OLS Director on administrative matters within the agency; (10) coordinating and preparing administrative assignments, programs, and other administrative matters;

(11) performing as Communications Coordinator (CC) for OLS; (12) coordinating final publication of agency publications from OLS;

(13) delivering agency draft publications to strategic staff for review/comments; (14) monitoring the receipt of correspondence to the TCEQ including email inboxes; and (15) handling other projects assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's Degree and three years of full-time experience working in an office environment.

OR

Four years of full-time experience performing supervisory, managerial, professional or technical work which must include: analysis of work problems having an administrative aspect and interpretation of complex written material; or planning, organizing, and coordinating requirements for support services or program operations where a wide range of demands are involved, including interpretation of complex written material.

OR

Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus eight years of fulltime experience in an administrative capacity*.

*Fifteen semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience with a maximum substitution of four years.

CURRENT TCEQ EMPLOYEES

This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Executive Assistant III state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Executive Assistant III series.
