The Donor Relations Assistant supports our Leadership Gifts team with raising five figure gifts from individual major donors through prospect research, CRM data entry, analysis and reporting, and moves management logistical support. A successful candidate creates opportunities to increase fundraising revenue for the Food Bank, while providing excellent customer support to existing donors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support Major Gifts Program

Maintain accurate and updated information on major donors in CRM, including gift history, biographical and demographic information, relevant contacts and relationships. Maintain current moves management information in CRM. Maintain updated donor outreach materials in a centralized resource library. Prepare moves management reports for relationship managers. Produce a variety of reports for use with major donor cultivation and planned giving program. Review major gift acknowledgment letters. Use a variety of tools to conduct prospect research and prepare detailed and up-to-date research briefings for development team members, executive director, board members and high-level volunteers. Identify prospective major donors based on prospect research, and donor analysis and guidance from Leadership Gifts team members. Support Production of Donor Cultivation Events

Support Events Manager in producing donor cultivation events such as virtual town halls, house parties and Food Bank visits, including a range of pre- and post-event logistics. Ensure timely entry of all event-related information into CRM before and after events. Database and Development Department Support

Collaborate with Direct Response Team on preparing targeted donor lists for various purposes including direct marketing efforts, donor cultivation events, targeted campaigns, annual report listing and major donor acknowledgements. Participate in donor cultivation and stewardship activities such as calls, tours and special events. Coordinate with Development Operations to streamline major gift related processes. Experience as a member of a complex nonprofit development operation. Understanding of moves management and/or relationship-based fundraising. Experience with fundraising databases and/or CRMs; experience with Salesforce a plus! Direct or transferable experience maintaining accurate and updated information on major donors in CRM, including gift history, biographical and demographic information, relevant contacts and relationships. Fidelity in learning and using standard operating procedures. Excellent customer service and ability to maintain a calm, friendly and tactful demeanor during high volume periods via phone calls, written correspondence, and in-person interactions. Experience conducting comprehensive prospect research; familiarity with Wealth Engine and iWave a plus. Ability to prepare detailed and up-to-date research briefings for development team members, executive director, board members and high-level volunteers. Ability to identify prospective major donors based on prospect research, and donor analysis and guidance from Leadership Gifts team members. Familiarity with donor stewardship activities such as making thank you calls and/or processing timely, personalized and compelling donation acknowledgments. Knowledge of multiple giving vehicles such as stock, Donor Advised Funds, cryptocurrency, Qualified Charitable Distributions and bequests. Strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail are essential. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments to meet deadlines. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines. Valid CA driver's license, insurable driving record, valid auto insurance and access to reliable transportation. Personal Attributes and Values

Physical Requirements

This position is in a shared office environment. Currently, this position works every day onsite at 7900 Edgewater Drive. The position requires the ability to sit at a desk/computer for prolonged periods, mobility to move throughout the food bank in performance of duties; ability to read and write in English; ability to use a computer to accomplish duties; ability to communicate in a clear speaking voice - in person and over the phone; ability to interpret instructions; and good social skills to facilitate assignments and establish positive relationships with Food Bank staff, volunteers and donors.

Compensation

This is a full-time, temporary, non-exempt, position working Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (7.5 hour workday; 1 hour unpaid lunch). This position will last rom December 2024 through March 2025. The hourly wage is $29.08 per hour. This position is not represented by a labor union and does not include healthcare insurance coverage, vacation/sick PTO, or paid holidays.
