POSITION DESCRIPTION
AREA:
Technology Support Specialist
beginning January 17, 2025 and ending August 29, 2025 .
REPORTS TO:
Director of Technology
SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT:
Provide technical support and assistance to staff and students regarding hardware and software issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination equivalent to: a high school diploma supplemented by vocational or college-level course work in computer science, computer technology, or related field and two years computer work experience. Valid Montana driver's license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Windows, ChromeOS and iOS operating systems. Ability to troubleshoot, investigate, and correct computer malfunctions or errors and perform routine hardware and software technical support. Knowledge of methods, tools, and procedures used in installation, repair, and maintenance of computers and other technology devices. Experience with Google Suite including Google for Education or G Suite Enterprise. Basic knowledge of network architecture design principles, practices and implementation. Basic knowledge of Active Directory, VLAN's, IP addressing, and firewalls as it relates to end user devices. Ability to provide demonstrations and explanations of a variety of computer hardware and software operations. Customer service experience including providing support through phone, email, or HelpDesk ticketing system. Ability to work effectively with strict timelines, numerous contacts, and the necessity for accuracy. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to non-technical staff. Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a member of a team. Ability to handle stressful situations. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
Assist in distribution, installation, and operation of the District's technology equipment. Travel to various school sites to install or troubleshoot technology equipment. Develop technology assistance (how-to) guides as requested. Install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain computer hardware and software; diagnose and resolve problems and malfunctions utilizing district tools. Respond to emergency requests for equipment repairs. Train and provide direction to others as requested by the Director of Technology. Read, interpret, apply, and explain district technology rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. SECURITY/CONFIDENTIALITY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position has a high degree of availability to confidential data and information therefore a high level of trust is given to this position. Violation of any of these responsibilities could result in discipline, including termination.
Will help to ensure that the district acceptable use policy is followed and adhered to by students and staff. Any violation must be reported immediately to the Director of Technology. If in working on a system while following the responsibilities of this position, personal or confidential information or data is revealed the sharing of this information in any form could result in discipline, including termination. PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. Persons performing service in this position classification will exert up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. This type of work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve running, walking or standing for brief periods. Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far visual acuity, depth perception providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job. Exposure to hot, cold, wet, icy, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable a person with a disability to perform the essential functions of the job.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employed for prescribed term, salary, benefits and other working conditions to be determined by District Policy, Federal and State Law as well as appropriate funding from state, federal, and/or passage of levies.
