The role is responsible for supporting the regional development and management of information systems and strategies that assist clinicians, caregivers, and teammates in the delivery of patient care within the Advocate Health Enterprise.

The Area VP/CIO will serve as the regional IT Executive for our Illinois sites to ensure stakeholder needs are adequately represented within the broader IT Governance structures and processes.

Serving as the trusted advisor and member of the Illinois region senior executive team, this role will work in partnership with market presidents, CEO’s, regional CMO’s, Regional Chief Nursing Officer (CNO), the Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO), enterprise HIT leaders, to achieve enterprise and IT departmental goals. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Serve in a leadership capacity for promoting and implementing IT changes that benefit physicians, clinicians, researchers, and patients. Changes may involve coordinating EMR, ERP, Ancillary Technology Architecture build, modifications, or enhancements to aid in achieving enterprise supported processes and goals. Lead and coordinate regional representation on enterprise Governance Structures in the design and governance of clinical, business and revenue cycle systems to support excellence in patient care and research. Engage patient care teammates of all roles, e.g., physicians, APPs, nurses, ancillary personnel, and medical records professionals to contribute to the advancement of Advocate Health Information systems. Develop empathy and understanding of physician, nursing and caregiver needs and build relationships to gain support of IT initiatives. Be highly responsive to customer needs to assure widespread acceptance of new and emerging technologies to improve organizational outcomes. Participate in ongoing communication/meetings with customers to ensure that SLA’s are being met. Serve as IT senior member for Site based and Business Development, including attending senior management meetings and forums. Drive optimization of the clinical, business and revenue cycle systems at the regional and enterprise level. Participate in the strategy development for the IT portfolio and roadmaps. Stay current with all government regulations and initiatives and ensure compliance. Plan, direct, and authorize capital and operational budgets in collaboration with the executive management team. Monitor industry trends and technology for process improvement opportunities. Exhibit well informed resource management and lead a fiscally responsible IT organization. Perform human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale. Develop and recommend operating and capital budgets and control expenditures within approved budget objectives. Understand and adhere to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and ensure that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field Experience Required:

10 years of functional experience leading a significant technology platform transformation in a healthcare system including 5 years of management-level experience. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Extensive knowledge of various health information systems, with the ability to apply these tools to support clinical and business decisions. Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through day-to-day management and advanced project management skills. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in developing strategic and tactical plans to meet business objectives in a large healthcare system. Expertise in managing multiple, conflicting, complex, simultaneous demands in geographically dispersed areas. Experience in developing, facilitating, and leading strategic information system functions and initiatives which align with organizational goals and objectives. Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practice in information systems operations, regulations, and guidelines. Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS This position requires travel, therefore, will be exposed to weather and road conditions. Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
