Position Overview: Direct leadership of Engineering and Maintenance Teams. Develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, safety, and quality standards. Recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods, and controls. Coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised machinery. Provide hands on support to maintenance and production teams. Essential Job Functions: Provide leadership and direction to engineering and maintenance teams, coordinate work assignments, develop actions plans that support company initiatives, create and support individual growth and development plans. Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods. Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of machinery and equipment according to specifications and quality standards. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering results safely, on time, within budget, in accordance with the agreed upon scope. Interact with production personnel to define and solve manufacturing/design issues and implement cost reduction ideas regarding our products. Utilize LEAN/Six Sigma methodology for continuous improvements and cost saving initiatives. Perform liaison function between engineering and all manufacturing operations for any related issues, problems, or improvements. Prepare equipment and labor proposal documentation. Interact with vendors and contractors concerning new machinery, and parts they supply or propose to supply to company. Interact with customers on projects and leased equipment. Provide daily hands on support to production, engineering, and maintenance for equipment issues, project construction and facilities maintenance. Coordinate as required with internal groups including product development, purchasing, quality control, safety, sales, production, accounting personnel. Conduct weekly meetings with engineers, managers and supervisors on assignments, workload, problems, and growth and development plans. Attend regular meetings and provide communication to the director of manufacturing on work status, workload, problems, and progress as related to work assignments. Requirements: BSME from an accredited university. Fifteen (15) or more years related experience in hands on manufacturing and/or project engineering. Five (5) or more years’ related experience in managing or leading a technical team of 5 or more employees. Able to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and blueprints. Able to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Able to use computer assisted drafting (CAD) equipment and software. Able to comprehend and apply principles of mathematics, and statistical theory. Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green or Black Belt) desired.
