Description
The Dispute Investigation Specialist I is responsible for investigating, reversing and/or resolving customer disputed credit card charges by processing refunds to the cardholder. Track chargebacks, defaults and fraudulent activity to management. This role identifies and analyzes customer accounts and resolves disputes including but not limited to pricing, EDI errors, purchase order discrepancies and billing errors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze incoming chargeback notifications
- Gather and compile necessary documentation to dispute chargebacks
- Respond to chargebacks in a timely and efficient manner
- Partner with banks, and payment processors to resolve chargeback disputes
- Monitor and update payment default tracker regarding active default cases and action and close default cases
- Provide clear and concise updates to merchants regarding the status of their disputes
- Work with the stakeholders on best practices to minimize future chargebacks
- Maintain accurate records of all chargeback activities and communications
- Prepare detailed reports on chargeback trends and outcomes
- Assist in the development and implementation of chargeback prevention strategies
- Ensure all chargeback processes comply with industry regulations and company policies
- Identify cause of disputes and intiate internal corrective action
- Stay updated on changes to chargeback rules and regulations
- Other duties as assigned
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years' experience in chargebacks and payment management
- Strong understanding of payment processing systems and chargeback procedures
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills to keep all records related to a dispute in order
- Well developed analytical and decision making skills to research credit and/or debit card disputes to make accurate and appropriate decisions based on the findings
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Proficiency with chargeback management software
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in the e-commerce or financial services industry
- Familiarity with major payment processors and networks
- Certification in chargeback management (e.g., Chargeback Management Certification from the Electronic Transactions Association)
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, typically in a cubicle environment (constant noise, fluorescent overhead lighting).
