The Manager of Lateral Recruiting will be part of team overseeing lateral associate & counsel hiring in the New York office and coordination of efforts with other Simpson Thacher offices, emphasizing firm interconnectedness globally. The Manager will implement strategic lateral integration & performance initiatives with the Legal Recruiting and Legal Talent teams. Specific recruitment duties include: ensuring a focus on diversity; liaising with search firms and managing those relationships; building and promoting the STB brand; as well as managing applicant sourcing. The Manager will monitor and assess hiring by practice group, deliver relevant headcount data & metrics, and assist in managing the lateral budget.

Responsibilities •Collaborate with senior management in developing strategic hiring plans, to include ensuring diversity in lateral applicants and acceptances as well as hiring from a global candidate pool •Coordinate search implementation and approval of hires, including coordination of specific candidate terms •Plan and manage successful execution of lateral searches - including interview coordination, liaising with candidates, offer extension and follow up •Advise key stakeholders on relevant market data, positioning and competitive market intelligence •Develop and maintain preferred firm relationships with search agencies - such as through consultations with recruiters and preparation of firm & practice-specific marketing materials •Maintain statistics and preparation of related analysis on lateral hiring •Manage day-to-day implementation of lateral policies and procedures, including compensation analyses •Collaborate with Legal Talent Department on lateral onboarding process and integration into the firm •Recommend and implement innovative means to attracting lateral applicants •Provide direction and supervision of teammates involved in the lateral hiring process •Oversee lateral resume submissions (e.g. search firm, referral and direct applications) including Vi data-entry, reports and candidate responses •Lead advertising and promoting openings, as appropriate to ensure optimal sourcing •Coordinate across Simpson offices for an integrated and cohesive approach •Share resources, contacts and best practices with Legal Recruiting and Legal Talent teams •Provide direction and supervision of teammates involved in the lateral hiring process •Execute projects, as needed to assist Chief Legal Talent Officer and Director of Legal Recruiting •Flexibility to adjust hours to meet departmental needs •Additional duties as needed

Education Required •Bachelor's degree required

Skills and Experience Required •4-6 years of comparable experience in lateral hiring •Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact well and build professional relationships while maintaining confidentiality; collaborative approach to working with others of all seniority levels •Ability to self-direct, manage multiple priorities, analyze needs and implement solutions •Strong analytical & organizational skills with attention to detail for both long and short-term projects and responsibilities •Must be team oriented, contributing as needed on unexpected projects or requests •Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable working in web-based databases/software, e.g. viDesktop •Must be flexible to adjust hours to meet departmental needs

Preferred •Prior experience in a law firm; visa/immigration experience

Salary Information

NY Only: The estimated base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $200,000 at the time of posting.

The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job. This role is exempt meaning it is not overtime pay eligible.
