General Statement of Responsibilities:

The Intake Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision of the day-to-day operations and leadership of the Intake Team. This Supervisor reports to the Associate Director of Access and Urgent Services. They must also be able to provide clinical services to eligible University of Minnesota students in addition to their supervisory responsibilities. Their primary role is to assure that students have access to therapy and counseling mental health services in a manner that is as seamless as possible. The Intake Supervisor must be a licensed mental health clinical professional and have experience providing clinical and/or administrative supervision. We are looking for candidates who have experience in change management or who have led initiatives or quality improvement processes. This position will be implementing a centralized intake process to improve access to UMN mental health services across two departments, Boynton MH and Student Counseling Services. Detailed Job Responsibilities:

Provide on-site and virtual professional mental health services, with a focus on diagnostic assessments and intakes, to University of Minnesota students. Lead efforts to assure that students have seamless access to mental health services through the new centralized intake process. Supervisory Responsibilities (20%): Provides supervision for Access Services including: clinical consultation, policies, procedures, and training. Develops and implements Access Services policies and procedures in close collaboration with the Associate Director of Access and Urgent Services, ensuring full compliance with ethical standards, best practices, and relevant state and federal regulations. Takes primary responsibility for the strategic planning, coordination, and performance monitoring of Access Services, ensuring that all aspects of service delivery are optimized for efficiency and quality outcomes. Produces and oversees comprehensive reports on service utilization, performance metrics, and key outcomes, driving data-informed decision-making to enhance service provision. Champions the continuous improvement of service quality and efficiency, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and ensure optimal resource utilization. Leads and facilitates regular intake team meetings, driving collaboration, problem-solving, and knowledge-sharing to enhance team performance and service outcomes. Oversees the onboarding and training programs for new staff and trainees, ensuring they are equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality Access Services. Coordinates ongoing professional development and updates across the organization as needed. Partners with the Operations Team to implement and refine operational procedures and drive continuous quality improvement initiatives, ensuring that Access Services meet evolving organizational needs. Acts as a key advocate and spokesperson for Access Services within the organization, fostering awareness, collaboration, and utilization among staff to enhance service delivery and improve access for clients. Represents Access Services in cross-functional workgroups and strategic meetings, contributing to organizational efforts to improve overall clinical service delivery and drive systemic improvements across the organization Clinical Responsibilities (80%): Conduct scheduled in-person, virtual and drop in mental health initial diagnostic assessment and consultation appointments to currently enrolled University of Minnesota students. Assess risk and safety, and provide immediate referrals and access to services as appropriate, such as urgent counseling. Provide backup urgent/crisis counseling coverage depending on needs of the clinic, to UMN students during regular clinic hours via phone, telehealth, and in-person in the clinic. Coordinate services with campus partners (e.g., UMN Care Team, BCT, DRC, ISSS, UMPD) as appropriate. Provide assessments for individual therapy and conduct individual therapy within a short term therapy model. Provide clinical supervision and/or participate in training programs for psychology and social work practicum students who they may supervise. Attend continuing education programs and /or participate in the same as needed to remain up-to-date and contribute to the field of mental health and as required to maintain credentials. Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful professional team environment in which concerns can be addressed effectively. Upon completion of the assessment, facilitate referrals to on and off campus supportive services including, academic departments, university support services and community mental health care (i.e. specialized services for higher level care needs.) Partner with clients in navigating insurance barriers and locating community mental health services for students with inadequate insurance coverage. Maintain relationships with referral network providers. Participate in any needed campus wide response that has a need for mental health support. Provides after hours on call mental health crisis support as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Master's degree plus four years of experience or a terminal degree plus at least one year of experience which allows for independent licensure as a mental health therapist in the state of Minnesota. Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion. Strong clinical skills in diagnostic assessments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with individuals with higher acuity needs. Demonstrated experience with trauma-informed, culturally responsive care Familiarity with University of Minnesota and community resources and procedures. Experienced with use of electronic medical records. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds which may include and are not limited to Black, Indigenous, People of Color, including underrepresented groups and new immigrant populations, people with both visible and invisible disabilities, Women, people of various gender and sexual identities and expressions, First-generation students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, and individuals who might encounter barriers based on their religious expression, age, national origin, ethnicity, or veteran status.
