JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) is excited to welcome a ECC Veterinary Nurse Trainer to their growing team! This position is responsible for supporting operations of UW Veterinary Care (UWVC) Emergency & Critical Care (ECC) and Intermediate Care Ward (IMCW) units. Incumbent will be expected to onboard and train new veterinary staff (CVTs and vet assistants) on basic skills for success in the ECC and IMCW, as well as assisting with hands-on patient care in the small animal hospital. Prepares and performs the most complex animal care procedures or serves as an expert in a specialized animal care area, and serves as a resource and lead to other technicians and student employees. 10% Assists veterinarians and researchers in animal care, diagnostic, preventative, research, anesthesia, surgery, post-operative care, euthanasia and radiology procedures under minimal supervision. May perform minor surgical procedures or other minor invasive procedures 10% Prepares, completes, monitors, and documents complex technical animal care procedures and work unit activities, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity 5% Keeps records of all controlled substances and inventory records 5% Maintains surgical support facilities in sanitized, well-stocked, and in orderly manner; and ensures that preventative maintenance of equipment is performed 60% Assists in training new veterinary and/or animal care technicians and supervises work as appropriate 10% Maintains records regarding animal treatments, medications, diagnostic procedures, and...
