Job Summary: Supervises all medical staff related activities throughout the TGH hospital system. Serves as an essential link between senior management of TGH and the medical staff to promote and enhance communication and a positive working relationship. Supervises the medical staff credentialing processes across all entities and manages the central verification office at TGH Davis Island. Works collaboratively with and supervises medical staff offices at TGH associated institutions. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital. Essential Functions: Responsible for the central verification office at TGH Davis Islands and provider credentialing across TGH. Develops relationships and collaborates with offsite TGH medical staff offices to consolidate into the current credentialing system as requested by senior management. Collaborates with IT and offsite institutions to develop processes for integration of credentialing systems to TGH. Ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies in regard to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and TGH Davis Island medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations, and keeps the medical staff and office staff updated. Develops and provides reports regarding credentialing and medical staff budget to senior management. Responsible for establishing, contributing to, and maintaining continuity in the planning, development, and implementation of policies and procedures applicable to the medical staff organization and office related to credentialing & privileging. Demonstrates and maintains understanding and expertise in the principles, practices, and techniques of medical staff organization responsibilities and its related bylaws, rules, and regulations that govern the organization, JCAHO/State standards necessary to oversee and ensure an effective credentialing program and other medical staff functions in order to ensure compliance with internal requirements and external agency. Performs duties and monitors medical staff action in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure objectives are met and processes are revised as required to meet the needs of the department and medical staff, while maintaining adherence to professional standards. Directs, creates, and monitors departmental performance improvement. Utilizes analytical and critical thinking skills and appropriate conflict management to achieve action-oriented outcomes assuring problems identified are acted upon or addressed. Prioritizes responsibilities to assure completion in a timely, efficient, effective, and professional manner. Demonstrates the ability to prioritize work schedules to ensure meeting established standards, while maintaining adherence to Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, JCAHO, and other external standards. Responsible for preparation, justification, control, and monitoring of departmental budget. Researches and maintains current knowledge of medical staff organization management to maintain thorough and effective processes and develops performance improvements as required. Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Business or other related field. Certified Professional Medical Management Certification (CPMSM). Minimum of five (5) years of management experience is required, with a minimum of 2 of those years with medical credentialing experience. Certification may be earned within 1 year of hire. An equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
