This mission of building a business that is both meaningful in the experiences it creates & impactful on the communities in which we operate is often best exemplified in HUCK’s retail cafes -- places where our approachable hospitality, community engagement & investment in people come together around a simple, yet timeless routine of drinking coffee. As such, HUCK wants the customer experience at our retail cafes to be consistently delicious, and entirely delightful.
SUMMARY
The Director of Warehouse Operations (DWO) for Huckleberry Roasters is tasked with making sure that the overall operations of the warehouse are prepared to run smoothly and efficiently. This includes orchestrating smooth day-to-day interactions with co-workers & wholesale partners, implementing/changing systems to increase efficiency and ease of work for operations, managing and maintaining communication between the roasting, production, and purchasing departments, as well as maintaining the necessary staff and supplies in order to allow seamless operations.
The DWO oversees production & fulfillment operations of the warehouse and its staff. The DWO also plays a leading role in revenue management & budget creation/implementation to manage COGs, labor, and expenses with an eye towards profitability. They work closely with the Head Roaster and Director of Green Coffee to structure and coordinate pricing of products, to anticipate coffee releases & timing of shipments/logistics of warehouse deliveries. The DWO is also responsible for scheduling production staff and supporting/helping Head Roaster with any scheduling hurdles their department might be facing.
DWO will be responsible for hiring and interviewing for all production & fulfillment staff positions. DWO is ultimately responsible for the final delivery and execution of all output orders and products from the warehouse.
Most importantly, the DWO will be in an essential position of leadership - one that will require daily, multi-faceted engagement with the work at HUCK including, but not limited to, empathic, clear & honest communication, identifying & solving problems, effective delegation of duties & tasks, an ability to keep eyes on the micro & macro picture, and more -- and often, all at the same time.
For the DWO, there is no typical day at our warehouse. Your day might start with the intention to stay within a framework (consider it a good day when it does!), but is the type of position that requires someone to continually problem solve and pivot to achieve the day's work!
The DWO has direct supervision of all staff on the production fulfillment, cold brew, and roasting departments.
The DWO reports directly to ownership.
