Waterbased Adhesives Chemist
This is an exciting opportunity to create solutions for customers using your knowledge of waterbased adhesive formulations in Acrylics, PU Dispersions and EVA Chemistries. You’ll create formulations, travel to support customers and Trade Show events, and manage projects from start to finish. This is a team of friendly and outgoing scientists who connect with customers and meet high expectations for success!
The ideal candidate for the Waterbased Adhesive Chemist role is someone who is able to bring technical solutions to our customers for an assigned product line, application, and/or industry. This person is able to work collaboratively with the customer as well as internal technical, sales, and marketing teams. This person prefers to work hands on in a laboratory environment and is focused primarily on adhesives applications.
What you do: Our ideal teammate has work-related experience with the following:
Focused primarily on developing and testing company products in customer formulations. Responsible for demonstrating the value of company products Utilizes in-depth technical know-how on specific product lines, customer & industry test methods and/or product use in industry specific application in order to sell more of company products; supports test method development in conjunction with external test method societies Develops justification for new product development to meet customer needs; requires regular interaction with synthesis and production colleagues Performs hands-on work in the lab and coaches a senior laboratory technician on day-to-day activities Provides customer support for sales and marketing colleagues when in-depth product support is needed to include customer visits, tradeshows, and other customer engagements upon request Creates and distributes regular communication with customers and internal company organization Stays current with trends, development and innovations in focus industry and the relevant product lines, maintain knowledge of customer application testing, and supports business growth through paper presentations at trade shows / conferences, training of direct and indirect customers Ensures the safety of self and team members Ability to learn, utilize and interpret data from various analytical equipment. Examples include DSC, FTIR, DMA, GC, tensile elongation machines and others Ability to use MS Office Suite and other specific software such as Salesforce, etc. Formulations of water-based systems to solve customer needs. Working knowledge of surfactants, defoamers, pigments, fillers, thickeners / rheology modifiers Working knowledge of materials science principles and ability to apply them to customer problems
