The Johnston County Public Information Department is seeking a Part-time Temporary Social Media Intern to support our efforts in managing and enhancing the digital presence of Johnston County Government. The intern will assist with content creation, graphic design, and video editing across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X. This position will work in person two to three days a week for approximately 15 hours weekly.
This position is open until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and schedule engaging content for Johnston County Government's social media accounts. Create graphics and visuals that align with the County's branding, utilizing tools like Photoshop and Canva. Edit videos for use on social media platforms to communicate key messages effectively. Monitor social media trends and analytics to inform content strategy. Collaborate with the public information team to align social media content with broader initiatives. Respond to comments and messages on social platforms as needed. Assist with other communications-related tasks as assigned. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices procedures and equipment. Knowledge of basis computer skills including knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Skill in operating various types of cameras and equipment, including computers and office machines. Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. Skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Desired Education and Experience
High School Graduation or equivalence Proficiency in social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and X. Familiar with Google Suite Experience with Photoshop and understanding of basic graphic design principles. Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite Video editing experience Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Creativity and a willingness to bring fresh ideas to the team.
