Role Purpose:

The successful candidate will join the Carbon Management Data team as a Data Analyst responsible for our Carbon Markets datasets, including data on carbon offsets and carbon pricing. The analyst will be an expert user of Wood Mackenzie’s data platform and will have the responsibility for sourcing, maintenance, quality, and governance of data for their respective domain coverage area. They will use their commercial awareness and deep understanding of the data to provide value to clients, both internal and external, and implement processes and controls to ensure data quality and adherence to Data Governance best practices.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Be the data subject matter expert for Carbon Markets data.
  2. Participate in high-priority projects and initiatives to improve data quality or processes.
  3. Fulfill data requests on time and with high quality, while following procedures and best practices.
  4. Utilize the Data platform effectively and ensure best practices are applied in maintaining databases, tools, models, and processes.
  5. Provide specialist skills in data analysis, take responsibility for data ownership or manipulation, and support junior colleagues.
  6. Conduct geospatial mapping of carbon market related entities using a GIS platform.
  7. Develop good working relationships with Data colleagues, Research, and Product.
  8. Collaborate with junior colleagues to train and ensure their work is completed accurately.
  9. Seek opportunities to automate workflows with Data Engineers.
  10. Work in an agile, collaborative manner to foster an environment of continuous improvement.

About You:

  1. 3-5 years of experience in a data analyst role or similar.
  2. Proficiency in coding languages such as Python and SQL.
  3. Proficiency in data visualization tools, Power BI preferred.
  4. Experience with Geospatial data and GIS Platforms preferred.
  5. Experience working on data projects autonomously with proficiency in requirements gathering and stakeholder management.
  6. Knowledge of applying technology solutions to solve business problems.
  7. Full proficiency with MS Office – Excel (including Power Query).
  8. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work on large datasets accurately.
  9. Strong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage workload within tight timescales.
  10. Commitment to excellence and high-quality standards expected by our customers.
  11. Knowledge of Carbon Market data preferred.
