Mechanic – Heavy Equipment
Specialized Communications Services (“SCS”), a division of Crestone Services Group, is seeking a candidate for a full-time Mechanic – Heavy Equipment with extensive diagnostic and repair experience for heavy equipment, including directional drills and off-road equipment. The role requires an individual with knowledge of electrical, diesel, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of hydraulic and diesel equipment.
- Perform root-cause analysis to determine necessary corrective actions.
- Read and understand mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams and technical repair manuals.
- Determine and maintain Preventative Maintenance schedules for equipment.
- Conduct extensive equipment inspections and identify worn and damaged parts.
- Verify equipment performance by conducting field tests.
- Maintain equipment service records and analyze records to prevent future repairs.
- Specify parts needed for repairs and order from suppliers. Fabrication of some parts may be required.
- Mentor and develop other shop employees.
- Complete preventive maintenance schedules, install component and part upgrades, control corrosion, and complete winterization procedures.
- Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems.
- Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
- Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
Qualifications
- 3+ years’ experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Extensive diagnostic and repair experience for heavy equipment, including directional drills and off-road equipment.
- Must have own tools.
- Class A license preferred.
- Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Working Conditions
- Ability to work in extreme heat and cold weather conditions.
- Exposure to distracting and loud noise.
- Exposure to moving equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift 80 lbs.
- Knowledge and ability to identify and use hand and shop tools.
- Certified and able to drive a forklift.
