Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our dynamic manufacturing company. The HR Generalist will be a vital member of our Human Resources team, responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to our diverse workforce of permanent and temporary employees across California and other locations. This role requires a deep understanding of HR practices, labor laws, and the ability to build positive employee relations.

The HR Generalist will handle all written and verbal employee queries with the utmost confidentiality. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to, drawing up HR documents, corresponding with recruitment agencies, organizing training sessions and events, updating company policies and ensuring they comply with labor laws.

To be a successful HR Generalist, you should have sound knowledge of labor laws and be willing to regularly revise them. You must be able to deal with a variety of personalities and keep calm in tense situations. A top HR Generalist should be approachable, fair, and have good multitasking abilities. You should also be willing to attend workshops and training sessions wherever possible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Relations: Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, concerns, and grievances. Facilitate conflict resolution, and maintain a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Payroll: Support the payroll department by providing them with up-to-date information on all employees, including sick leaves, leaves of absence, overtime hours, work schedules, and more.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Collaborate with hiring managers to coordinate the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and making hiring recommendations. Conduct new employee orientations to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Performance Management: Support the performance management process, including goal setting, performance reviews, and development plans. Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on performance-related matters.
  • Compliance: Stay updated on federal and state employment laws and regulations, with a focus on California. Assist in ensuring company policies and practices remain compliant.
  • Employee Engagement: Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Participate in employee recognition programs and events.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and assist in coordinating training programs to enhance employee skills and professional growth. Collaborate with HR Manager and department heads to align training with business goals.
  • Benefits Administration: Support the administration of employee benefits programs, including health, retirement, and wellness initiatives. Assist employees with benefits inquiries and enrollments.
  • HR Metrics and Reporting: Support in compiling HR data needed for HR reporting and analytics.
  • Cross-Location Coordination: Collaborate with the HR team to ensure consistent HR practices and policies across all company locations, including those out-of-state.
  • Take an active part in all HR projects, such as job fairs, engagement events, and more.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred. HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry or a similar setting.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations, particularly in California.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Technology: Proficiency in HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Normal conditions for an office environment.
  • Requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other office equipment for extended periods of time.
