Performs intermediate skilled clerical work assisting with the operation of the Treasurer's Office; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Head Cashier or Chief Deputy Treasurer. Work involves assisting tax payers and the general public; receiving, recording and receipting payments; entering data in the county information system; administering collection programs and preparing files, letters and other department records.
- Provides assistance to tax payers and County residents who contact the Office of the Treasurer.
- Receives, reviews, and processes payments for County & State taxes; enters payment data into the County information system.
- Performs collection activities for County revenue collections.
- Processes forms/application and sells dog tags; records rabies certificate information; records sales and provides customer receipts.
- Prepares daily balance reports and end-of day balancing data.
- Balances collected money with payment records in automated system.
- Processes Tobacco Stamp sales for wholesale vendors.
- Answers telephone calls and provides citizen service for all tax issues.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of processing government revenue collections.
- Ability to meet various deadlines.
- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to operate various office equipment including copier, phone, computer, etc.
- Knowledge of various computer software including, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to follow direction.
- Ability to exercise considerable tact and courtesy when dealing with citizens and handling confidential information.
- Ability work in a team environment.
- Ability to provide the highest level of citizen service.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Experience and education equivalent to a high school diploma plus prior cashier experience preferred.
Special Requirements
Must successfully complete a criminal history background check.Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds). #J-18808-Ljbffr
