Ithaca College — Assistant Professor of Film Production

The Ithaca College Roy H. Park School of Communications invites applications for a multi-year renewable Assistant Professor appointment in Film Production beginning Fall 2025 in Ithaca NY. This position joins the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies (MASS) with 40+ full-time faculty dedicated to teaching excellence who offer 4 degree programs for nearly 1000 majors, along with 5 minors. The Park School is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with a $5M inventory of film and digital media portable equipment, multiple studio spaces, and cutting-edge technologies including an LED surround wall for virtual production.

Primary Responsibilities:
Teaching the introductory course in digital cinema/16 mm film production and possibly other undergraduate courses in the applicant’s area of expertise; participating in departmental, school, and college service; and providing academic advising for students.

The successful candidate will teach a full course load per academic year, act as an academic advisor for students, and serve on Department, School, and College committees. There is also an expectation of research, creative, and/or professional work. Successful candidates will demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging success in all students.

Qualifications:
M.F.A. in Film Production is preferred. Candidates with a related advanced degree (e.g., M.S., M.A.) and significant professional experience will also be considered. Preference is given to candidates with successful college teaching experience and an active professional/creative profile.

Hiring Range: $61,000 – $63,500, dependent on discipline, qualifications, and experience.
