Ithaca College — Assistant Professor of Sports Media

Ithaca College invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor appointment in the Sports Media interdisciplinary program beginning August 16, 2025 in Ithaca, NY. This position joins the Roy H. Park School of Communications with 65+ full-time faculty dedicated to teaching excellence who offer 8 degree programs for over 1500 majors, along with 9 minors. The Park School is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with a $5M inventory of film and digital media portable equipment, multiple studio spaces, and cutting-edge technologies including an LED surround wall for virtual production.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching classes in Sports Media and related programs in Journalism and sports production.
  2. Contributing new courses relevant to the future of Sports Media.
  3. Teaching a full course load per academic year.
  4. Acting as an academic advisor for students.
  5. Serving on Department, School, and College committees.
  6. Engaging in research and/or creative work.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to teach in ways that value the varied learning needs and interests of a culturally diverse student population, and that reflect a commitment to encouraging success in all students.

Qualifications: A master’s degree and significant professional sports media experience is required. A doctorate in sports media or related field and significant professional sports media experience is preferred. We prefer candidates who have a record of successful college teaching.

Hiring Range: $61,000 – $63,500, dependent on discipline, qualifications and experience.
