This position independently drives application of the latest manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling and machinery to maximize plant throughput, product quality and improve on-time deliveries to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively investigate current and emerging technologies.
  • Support NC reviews, 5Y investigations, and lead corrective action initiatives.
  • Independently evaluate, recommend, and coordinate implementation of manufacturing process improvements.
  • Work with the cell Team Leader to support day-to-day manufacturing.
  • Develop and help source new tooling and tooling concepts.
  • Evaluate and measure cost effectiveness of manufacturing processes.
  • Manage various manufacturing engineering projects as assigned.
  • Provide estimations of manufacturing times and costs as part of design reviews for Production Engineering.
  • Prepare budgets, capital requisitions and justifications for major capital equipment acquisitions.
  • Manage all aspects of major capital projects, acceptances, personnel training, commissioning and transition into production.
  • Help develop machine and technology roadmaps with manager.
  • Provide mentoring and training to Manufacturing Technicians and Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Indirectly lead technicians during tooling projects or machine installation/deployments.
  • Provide manufacturing estimates and DFM (design for manufacturability) input for Product Development.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Strong background with materials and tooling processes.
  • Strong technical knowledge of the mechanics of metal removal during machining processes.
  • Experience with the design of jigs, fixtures, and part clamping.
  • Experience with machine tool acquisitions and factory layouts.
  • Proficient with computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • CNC programming (or machining) or design experience is a plus.
  • A working knowledge in at least four manufacturing processes (milling, drilling, turning, grinding, etc.) is a must.
  • Expertise in project management.
  • Moderate travel is expected with this job.
  • 10+ years of general manufacturing and machining experience.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience is a must.
  • A.B.S. or A.S in Engineering (Manufacturing or Mechanical) preferred or equivalent preferred.
