Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) – Department of Endodontics is seeking a Dental Assistant to assist department faculty and residents during examination and treatment of patients. The primary duty will be to perform chair-side assistance. The position reports to the Department Chair and Senior Management Assistant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Seats patients, adjusts chair and drapes patients with protective covers.
- Sets up each unit with proper supplies and instruments needed by postgraduate students during daily patient treatment.
- Performs four-handed assisting with doctor during examination and treatment of patients.
- Mixes endodontic and restorative materials.
- Maintains all dental instruments and equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness of clinic and dispensary area following OSHA regulations.
- Utilizes digital radiographic equipment to obtain images.
- Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization; re-stocks endodontic kits with proper instruments and materials.
- Assists supervisor in ordering and maintaining clinical supplies.
- Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Assisting Program.
- Certification as a Dental Assistant (CDA) through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
- Valid Dental Radiologic Technology License issued by the New Jersey Department of Environment Protection.
- CPR Certified.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds, move and push carts.
