Medical Laboratory Scientist - Night Shift Generalist

Salary: DOE per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Examine the acceptability of specimens for testing, adhering to established criteria.
  • Conduct both routine and complex technical procedures following departmental SOPs.
  • Operate and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to confirm proper functionality.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing approaches and problem resolution.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Deliver accurate and prompt test results to aid in optimal patient care.
  • Perform and document preventive maintenance along with quality control procedures.
  • Maintain and replenish testing bench supplies and assist in specimen processing as necessary.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment to ensure a safe work environment.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent qualification that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
  • ASCP or AMT certification is required.
  • At least 10 years of clinical laboratory testing experience, showcasing extensive expertise across various types of tests.
  • Proven ability to work during night shifts and potentially over weekends during high volume periods.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and software systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Generalist in a clinical laboratory setting.
  • Skilled in conducting complex tests and interpreting results with high accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities related to clinical lab operations.
  • Training in advanced laboratory diagnostic equipment and procedures desirable.
