The Role: The Finance organization is responsible for the management and control environment for WorldQuant on a global basis. We are seeking an especially hardworking Controller to join our team based in Old Greenwich, CT.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all company financial transactions and general accounting activities always keeping accurate governance, risk management, and compliance front of mind.
  • Understand business processes, express understanding through adept use of workflow diagrams, analyze for problems including control risks, restrictive controls, and process inefficiencies.
  • Handle monthly quick closes, month-end reporting, flash reporting, and headcount reporting.
  • Prepare twelve-month detailed bottoms-up full-year expense forecasts and next-year entry rate estimates on a monthly basis.
  • Analyze data at a detailed root-level, synthesize the results of the analysis, and prepare top-level insightful reports to senior management on expenses actual-to-budget, month-over-month, forecast to entry-rate, and version-to-version.
  • Develop significant positive relationships with department heads and project managers.
  • Lead to completion the annual consolidated management company audit, prepare quarterly unaudited consolidated financials.
  • Become a subject matter expert to all global staff on all global financial activities and US GAAP.
  • Maintain publication calendar for all internal and external reporting.
  • Manage, care for, and develop staff.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience, 2 of those years in public accounting is a plus.
  • Active CPA designation required.
  • Intellectually curious thinker by nature, internally driven, quick learner, who takes the initiative with minimal direction, but knows when to ask for guidance or discuss findings.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership and organizational abilities while encouraging a collaborative and team-oriented environment.
  • Recognizes that mistakes are a natural part of growth and champions transparency in dealing with them.
  • Skilled in leading and running small teams effectively.
  • Proficient in simultaneously overseeing multiple international multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Expertise in financial modeling with extensive experience in creating large-scale dynamic models.
  • Advanced Excel skills are required and will be evaluated as part of the interview process.
  • Possesses an innate ability to scrutinize financial reports, identify inconsistencies, and diligently analyze underlying details to uncover the root cause of issues.
  • Outstanding oral and written English skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in clear and simple terms.
  • Strong knowledge of foreign currency accounting and reporting is a plus.
  • Prior exposure in an international workforce culture is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Workday general ledger, human resource systems, and SQL queries are a plus.
