Summary of Position:

The Retail Director is responsible for overseeing the operations, growth, and profitability of Fortune’s seafood and gourmet food retail locations and cafés. The Retail Director will act as a visionary leader, ensuring exceptional customer experiences, operational excellence, and alignment with the company’s brand and mission. This position will be based in Minnesota.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee day-to-day operations across all retail locations, ensuring consistent implementation of company policies and standards.
  2. Monitor and optimize store performance metrics, including sales, profitability, inventory turnover, marketing, menus, and customer satisfaction.
  3. Ensure proper handling and presentation of seafood, gourmet products, and café menu items maintaining freshness and quality standards.
  4. Train and mentor store staff to cultivate a high-performing, customer-focused team.
  5. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and passion for culinary excellence.
  6. Provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities for staff, particularly in areas such as product knowledge and customer service.
  7. Leverage culinary background to curate an exceptional product selection and educate staff on the culinary applications of seafood and gourmet items.
  8. Serve as a brand ambassador, engaging with customers to build brand loyalty and trust.
  9. Develop and execute strategies to drive revenue growth.
  10. Identify new opportunities and collaborate with leadership on store enhancements.
  11. Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams to maintain a well-stocked inventory of products.
  12. Monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to reduce waste and ensure product freshness.
  13. Partner with executive leadership to align retail initiatives with broader company goals.
  14. Provide regular reporting on KPIs, market insights, and operational updates.
  15. Own retail division’s P&L, ensuring profitability while managing expenses and controlling costs.
  16. Develop, monitor, and achieve annual budgets, sales goals, and financial targets for each retail location.

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Retail/Restaurant Management or related field, or equivalent experience.
  2. 5+ years of proven, progressive experience in retail management, preferably in a food, gourmet, or specialty retail environment.
  3. Previous experience as a chef, restaurant manager, retail manager, or similar culinary leadership role highly preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of seafood, gourmet foods, and culinary trends.
  5. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  6. Ability to analyze data, develop actionable insights, and implement strategies for improvement.
  7. Passion for delivering outstanding customer service and fostering a love of fine foods.
  8. Demonstrated expertise in managing P&L, including budget creation, expense management, and achieving financial targets.
  9. Experience managing multiple retail locations, with the ability to balance priorities and optimize performance across several units.
