Lead Optical Engineer

Primary Duties & ResponsibilitiesCarry out optical design under the guidance of senior members of the design team.Use machine learning (ML) to develop new calibration algorithms.Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and testing team members on assembly automation algorithm.Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of designs, processes, and test results.Education & ExperienceMS or PhD in optics, physics or related technical fields.2-5 years of related experience is preferred. SkillsGood understanding of optics, especially liquid crystal optics and fiberoptics.Very familiar with Zemax and machine learning (ML). Ability to work with little supervision and to manage assigned tasks effectively. Ability to learn and apply new technologies and tools to develop innovative solutions.Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.Working ConditionsGood office working conditions. Occasionally required to work in a Class 10000 clean-room environment, wearing smock with mask and gloves.Physical RequirementsAble to move light equipment and tooling (
