This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent placement.

Schedule: 7:30 AM - 8:00 PM (not all in one day, but may require a few days a week until 8 PM), Monday - Friday, no weekends required.

Position Type: Float position; requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Experience with blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
2. Updating patient information as required.
3. Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.
4. Clearly explaining the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection methods (e.g., urine or fecal).
5. Demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
6. Understanding all of the physicians' orders.
7. Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
8. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order.
9. Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
10. Packaging specimens for transport and storing them according to required temperature.
11. Placing samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately labeling them.
12. Following procedures outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity during transport.
13. Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations.
14. Attending annual department trainings.
15. Answering telephone calls and reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
2. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
3. High School diploma or equivalent or Phlebotomy Certification.
