This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent placement.
Schedule: 7:30 AM - 8:00 PM (not all in one day, but may be required to work a few days a week until 8 PM). Monday-Friday, no weekends required.

Position Type: Float position requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Main Function: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.
Position Responsibilities:
- Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, and decontamination.
- Updating patient information.
- Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures.
- Properly explaining the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) in a clear and courteous manner.
- Demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
- Understanding all of the physicians' orders.
- Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test orders.
- Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Packaging specimens for transport.
- Storing specimen samples according to required temperature and placing samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes.
- Accurately labeling and following procedures outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
- Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations.
- Attending annual department trainings.
- Answering telephone calls and reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- High School diploma or equivalent, or Phlebotomy Certification.
