Job Description
The 3rdJudicial District’s Court Administration has immediate openings for Court Reporters across the 3rdDistrict. Multiple positions are available in Northwest Iowa.
The pay range for this position is $28.52 - $46.54 per hour / $2281.60 - $3723.20 bi-weekly depending on relevant courtroom experience as a certified Court or Verbatim Reporter (Voice Reporter).
Plus, possible additional special pay allowances per advanced certification. These certifications are: RMR or RDR and CRR, for stenographic reporters. Voice reporter certifications are RVR and CM. If a reporter transitions or has transitioned from Federal employment to state employment, the FCRR certification can be accepted in lieu of the CRR certification. A copy of your certificate and renewals are required and additional validation necessary to continue any special pay allowance.
Court & Verbatim Reporter positions are under the direction and supervision of the District Court Administrator or Assistance District Court Administrator, as the Chief Judge’s designees, and can be assigned to report on proceedings with any judge in any county in the 3rdJudicial District.
Hours:Monday to Friday, 8:00A – 4:30P

Captures court testimony and proceedings with stenography machine
Reads back court testimony and proceedings upon request
Prepares transcripts
Performs general office work
Marks and records exhibits during court proceedings
Performs related work as determined by Judge, Chief Judge or designee
Electronic document filing required in all counites within the District
May be required to work for any Judicial Officer within the District per operational needs
Court Reporter will purchase and maintain court reporting software and stenotype machines and/or verbatim recording equipment

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited high school (or High School Equivalency) and graduation from a school of court reporting.
Must be certified by the Iowa Board of Shorthand Reporters within 12 months of employment, and certification must be maintained as a condition of employment. Certification demonstrates proficiency based on the standard of the National Court Reporters Association for the earned designation of Registered Professional Reporter or the National Verbatim Reporters Association for the earned designation of Certified Verbatim Reporter.
