A law firm seeks an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its team in Fresno, CA. This position offers an outstanding opportunity for a recent law graduate or new attorney interested in immigration law. The role involves managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with a dedicated team of attorneys and legal assistants. Reporting to the Managing Immigration Attorney, the selected candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience and career growth potential within an established legal environment.
Duties
- Provide clear explanations of immigration law concepts and develop strategic solutions for clients.
- Represent both detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
- Manage an assigned caseload, ensuring timely progress and attention to detail.
- Conduct intake assessments and visits with detained individuals at detention centers.
- Prepare and review various immigration applications, including those related to removal defense and family-based petitions.
- Make adjustments to immigration packets and applications as needed.
- Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to address changes in immigration law.
- Consult with potential clients to assess cases and determine appropriate legal strategies.
- Prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony through strategy development and guidance.
- Draft and submit legal briefs for a wide array of immigration matters.
Requirements
- Interest in Immigration Law: Demonstrated through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
- Licensing: Juris Doctor (JD) degree; active bar admission preferred, but law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal abilities, particularly in client service and team collaboration.
- Language: Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus but not mandatory.
- Case Management: Experience with case management software is an asset.
Education
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Certifications
- Active bar admission or pending admission to practice law.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in managing case files.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to clients.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with a legal team.
- Familiarity with case management software preferred.
