Assistant Vice President - MSR Portfolio Investments

The Assistant Vice President - MSR Portfolio Investments is responsible for assisting and maintaining the analytics utilized in the valuation of mortgage servicing rights and related transactions. The candidate will also be responsible for providing support and periodic reports to key business partners leveraging existing tools and methodologies.

Essential Functions
  • Prepare funding schedules for MSR acquisitions.
  • Work with Portfolio Investments team on acquisitions and dispositions: pricing of co-issue, bulk and mini-bulk deals.
  • For Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae Co-Issue MSRs, calculate monthly funding amounts for each Seller and related escrow funds and reconcile with incoming and outgoing wires.
  • Responsible for monitoring and executing Ginnie Mae early buyout loans (EBOs) that need to be financed via warehouse line of credit and re-delivered via Ginnie Net portal.
  • Responsible for running daily purchase file for all co-issue MSRs - Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and Ginnie Mae.
  • Assist in monthly ESS MSR sales to investors, including pricing and gain-on sale calculations and generation of internal files for Investor Reporting and Finance departments.
  • Support the day-to-day risk analytics, risk reporting and performance monitoring of the MSR portfolio.
  • Maintain and track hedge positions for pipelines of loans originated for sale on the secondary market and loans bought out for modification and redelivery to GNMA.
  • Manage large data tapes from various sources and check for data inconsistencies for purposes of obtaining monthly MSR valuations.
  • Prepare requested reports for auditors and regulators.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly comprehensive reporting for investor partners.
  • Provide MSR valuation support to other functional areas when needed.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual K-1 tax estimates for capital investors.
  • Responding to adhoc-reporting requests using SQL for data retrieval.

Work Environment
  1. job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to sit for long periods of time is essential.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Additional hours may be required.

Education and Experience
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in mortgage or fixed-income related Capital Markets, Finance, etc. or related function. Relevant experience in prepayment modeling or credit analytics. Relevant experience with MSRs, whole loans, derivatives or other fixed-income products
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Mathematics, Economics or equivalent.
  • MSR Valuation experience is preferred.
  • Experience with PowerBI is preferred.
  • Experience with mortgage securities, whole loans, derivatives or other fixed-income products
  • Expert proficiency with Excel and some knowledge of database applications is required. SQL experience is preferred.
  • Excellent quantitative skills and strong written/verbal communications skills.
  • CFA/CPA or progress towards preferred.
