GIS Project Manager

TAYS is seeking an experienced, high-performing GIS Project Manager to join our dynamic team! Your unique perspective will help us tackle complex geospatial challenges, and we welcome your innovative ideas. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in GIS project management, geospatial data analysis, and expertise in tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms. Proficiency in data integration, visualization, and Python scripting for GIS applications is highly desirable.

This position is based in Woodlawn, MD, and requires an experienced multi-tasker with robust project management, analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

This is a Full-Time position with a hybrid schedule. The GIS Project Manager must reside within 2 hours of Woodlawn, MD.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Determine and define project scope and objectives.
  • Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources throughout the project.
  • Prepare budget based on scope of work and resource requirements.
  • Track project costs in order to meet budget.
  • Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
  • Provide project updates on a consistent basis to various stakeholders about strategy, adjustments, and progress.
  • Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
  • Utilize industry best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution.
  • Monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct post implementation reviews to assess the effectiveness of the application.
  • Provide status to customers.
  • Understand and adhere to contract terms and conditions

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PM experience with an ESRI ArcGIS® system.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of project management and related experience and 10 years of work experience.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate with the affected user community, requirements analysts, and others to develop the most appropriate approach.
  • Skilled in providing detailed written and/or oral recommendations.
  • Familiar with all phases of the systems development lifecycle (SDLC) and overseeing projects through the lifecycle.
  • Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.
  • Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Desired Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Familiar with Section 508 compliance regulations.
  • Experience working with users to elicit requirements that will meet their business needs.
  • Skilled in the development of high level and detailed functional requirements documentation.
  • Previous Government contracting experience.
  • Active Public Trust clearance.
