Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced IBMi Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, the candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining IBMi (formerly known as AS/400) systems and applications. The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth operation of our IBMi infrastructure, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support. This role requires a strong understanding of IBMi architecture, Security, Hardware, and Fortra toolsets, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:
Deployment and implementation of best practices on the IBMi/Power systems platform. Maintain peak operating performance of IBMi/Power environments, its related equipment, and core applications. IBMi/Power Hardware and Software upgrades (including Operating System upgrades). IBMi/Power Performance Monitoring and Tuning. PowerVM and Virtualization of Power Systems. Application of PTFs, CUMs, system saves, and IPL management. Maintain system High Availability/DR readiness using PowerHA. Configure partitions and systems using the Hardware Management Console (HMC), physical and virtual. Successful project completions. Assist in regulatory audit (PCI, SOX, etc.) remediation. Monitor and enforce system security guidelines for all applications. Assist in developing internal documentation and procedures related to specific customer environments. Manage Backup, Restore, and DR Processes. Administer FORTRA tools for IBMi. Contribute to developing a comprehensive monitoring and alerting strategy encompassing IBMi, storage, and all associated systems. Participate in after-hours (24×7) support on-call rotation. Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Experienced with OS/400 in an IASP environment. Experience with PowerHA as HA/DR Methodology for IASP environment, and Fortra’s RobotHA as HA/DR Methodology for all data in SYSBASE. Experienced working with IBM storage systems, DS8K and V7K, and understand disk-based replication technologies. Must demonstrate subject matter expertise in areas of concentration: Performance, security, HW, and maintenance. Experience with IBMi performance tools such as iDoctor and MPG. Advanced knowledge of all Fortra’s products supporting IBMi. Experience with business applications such as BizManager, EDI, and GoAnyWhere MFT. Advanced understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, HTTP, FTP. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; and 3-5 years’ experience in Systems Engineering; or Equivalent combination of education and experience. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
